A little bit of drizzly weather didn’t stop Bradenton’s patriotic residents from coming downtown to celebrate Independence Day and recollect on the meaning of the holiday.
Werner and Ushi Beck, owners of Beck’s Bistro, emigrated to the United States from Germany. Werner said that he is celebrating his 10th year of being a United States citizen. His wife grew up in East Germany. The couple agrees that the Fourth of July is a celebration of freedom. “You know what it means when you don’t have it,” said Ushi. Credit: Jessi Smith
