Some hot ideas for a cold spring
With Florida gripped in a continued cold snap, we have some ideas to keep you warm:
Try a Chocolate Decadence hot chocolate, one of our hot teas, a hot Chai or a fresh Joffrey’s coffee (Hazelnut is back!)

Coffee bean enthusiasts should have no difficulty finding a fix at Beck’s Cool Beans Restaurant, Bradenton’s java joint of the moment. Chances are, if you dropped in during the Christmas week, you sampled a peppermint-tinged drink with a seasonal, sugary cookie. Joffrey’s Winter Wonderland flavored coffee in white chocolate, caramel and coconut are touted here, along with an chocolate lattes and jolting espressos.

Biggest accomplishment in 2009: We moved Cool Beans from 904 Manatee Ave. E. to 611 Manatee Ave. E. and we increased sales by 25 percent thanks to a very solid customer base.
Biggest challenge of 2009: To overcome a severe recession with declining sales in the restaurant business.
New Year’s resolution: We will open a new location at Old Main Street in January 2010. We are going to change our name to Beck’s Restaurant at the Manatee Avenue location and Beck’s Bistro at the downtown location.
Expectations for 2010: Our plan is to hire one more cook and two waitresses and hopefully increase sales by 25 percent again.”
